Girl Scouts of South Carolina, Mountains to Midlands Region is launching the new Remember, Reflect, Respond patch in in partnership with the Anne Frank Center at the University of South Carolina with an interactive, hands-on event on Sunday, October 25.
Supported by Columbia Holocaust Education Commission, South Carolina Council on the Holocaust, and the Selden K. Smith Holocaust Education Foundation, this new patch encourages Cadets, Seniors, and Ambassador Girl Scouts to develop a foundational understanding of the Holocaust.
By completing all patch requirements, participants will:
Remember the victims and survivors of the Holocaust by learning the primary causes of the Holocaust; Reflect by spotting propaganda, understanding antisemitism, and recognizing how identity can be misused to create “us” v. “them” mentality; and Respond with positive creativity or action by developing a piece of art, written or digital content, or with an action plan to become an active helper.
Registration for this event is open for Girl Scouts and girls considering joining Girl Scouts who are in grades 6-12.
